IBM Create Largest Capacity Hard Drive 120 petabytes

IBM is building the largest hard drive that has a capacity of 120 petabytes, or 120 milliongigabytes. Currently the world's largest hard drive capacity is 15 petabytes. If the project is completed, then IBM will have a hard drive with the largest capacity in the world.

Certainly not a single sebuahhardisk. IBM makes the hard drive of a series of 200 thousand hard drives joined together in supercomputing facility. Implementation of projects is done in CA Research Lab, Almaden, San Jose, California, USA.

This giant hard disk can contain not less than one trillion files and can run a simulation ofmore complex systems, such as for weather and climate modeling. Megaserver was madefor an anonymous client who plans to create a simulation of the phenomenon of real events.

To support this project, IBM developed a variety of hardware and new softwaretechniques. Coolers are made to this giant hard drive using a circulating water, such ascooling fan is not hard in general.

When a single disk dies, the system draws data from another drive and write to diskreplacement slowly, so that supercomputers can continue working. If more failures occur among nearby drive, the drive will rebuild the speed to process and avoid the possibility ofother failures, such as the vanishing of some of the data permanently.

IBM uses the standard tactics of storing multiple copies of data on different disks, but thehiring of new improvements that allow supercomputers to continue to work with almost fullspeed even when the drive is damaged.

Give ASUS Laptop "Similar" MacBook Air

With the aim of breaking the domination of the MacBook Air ultraportable laptop market,ASUS launches super-thin laptops, ZenBook, Wednesday (10/12/2011).

ASUS ZenBook available in two models with screen size of 11.6 inches and 13.3 inches.Standard specification of this notebook is equipped with a hybrid storage media solidstate drive (SSD) of 128 GB and an Intel i5 (available also the option to upgrade to Inteli7). Zenbook use a Microsoft operating system, Windows 7 and is part of Intel's"Ultrabook", with a thickness of less than one inch and U.S. $ 1000 price range.

With a thickness of only 0.11 inches (3mm) at the thinnest and 0.35 inches (9mm) in the thickest part, Zenbook ASUS claims is the thinnest laptop available in the market today(the MacBook Air at the very thick, 0.68 inches ). Zenbook UX21 model weighs about 1.1kg and UX31, with a screen size of 13.3 inches, weighs approximately 1.29 kg. Whencompared to the MacBook Air with the same screen size, weight slightly heavier UX21and UX31 little lighter.

MacBook Air debut at the 2008 does have an impact on changes in market share in the notebook world. With very light weight and wide-screen 11 to 13 inches, and is far more powerful than a netbook - which is also light but with lower specs, the MacBook Airinstantly became a prima donna.

Since its emergence, can almost be called the MacBook Air has no mean rival. Year 2011is just emerging products are "similar" MacBook Air, from its competitors, such as Acerand ASUS S3 ZenBook this.

ZenBook mainstay feature is the "Instant On", which cut the boot time from standby modeto two seconds and the battery resistance that could last two weeks of standby time.

ZenBook will be marketed starting price of 999 U.S. dollars for 1099 model UX21 andUX31 models for the U.S. dollar.
